Since August 9, 2018, the State of Morelos has held a Mezcal Denomination of Origin, granted by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI).
Mezcal has been produced in 23 municipalities of Morelos since the 18th century.
The flavors and aromas of our agaves are legendary. Legend has it that the maguey plant was born from the buried bones of the goddess Mayahuel, interred by her lover Quetzalcoatl.

Our agaves grow under starry skies and sunny days. Only with dedication are mature agaves harvested after 8 years of cultivation.
Each agave heart is manually selected and cut, respecting pre-Hispanic techniques.

Our jimadores remove the leaves with sharp coas, then transport the agave hearts to our master mezcal makers.
Our agaves are ground with a stone mill to extract the juices that will be distilled.

Fermented in wooden vats and distilled in clay pots, this is how the best mezcal in Mexico is produced.

In artisanal distilleries, our master mezcal makers cook in wood-fired pit ovens, which imparts that character and earthy notes to our mezcal.
